Do you have what it takes to be an RB Brand Ambassador?

By

Whilst at university you are constantly looking for ways to stand out, to build on your skills and to make sure you have the best chance possible of getting the job you really want at the end of it.

Recruiters are looking for the most proactive candidates, ones that show they can produce results – both in and outside the classroom. It’s not enough to just be qualified for the job you want, you need to demonstrate you have gone above and beyond the rest. You want to get potential employer’s attention from the minute they see your CV, but how do you do that in such a crowded market?Curriculum Vitae

RB has launched a fantastic opportunity for 5 ambitious graduates in the UK to really make a mark for themselves. It’s a chance to build on your marketing and communication skills and gain valuable experience to really boost your CV.

RB is looking for Campus Brand Ambassadors to raise awareness of the company.
We’re a global success story – number 12 in the FTSE 100 and a world leader in household, health and personal care. In fact, RB is probably the biggest name you’ve never heard of! And as one of our new Campus Brand Ambassadors you will help to change that.

So who are we looking for?
You need to love a challenge and like to win.
You should already have a good network of friends and fellow students.
You enjoy coming up with creative new ideas to achieve your goals and be successful.
You’re determined, persistent and a bit of an entrepreneur.
You’re probably already starting to think about what career you want to go into after graduation.
You can dedicate around 20 hours a month to promoting RB.

And what’s in it for you, you’re asking?
You get a unique opportunity work with a world leading consumer goods company.
There’ll be an award for the most successful Campus Brand Ambassador over the year – as well as a cash bonus, you’ll get a fast-track onto the 2nd stage of our graduate programme.
From the experience you’ll gain useful stuff for your job interview portfolio, including references from a global FMCG company, not many new graduates will have that on their CV!
It’ll give you a great chance to further build on your network within the student community and develop different relationships with tutors, other students, clubs and societies.
And you will get paid. A base salary of £400 per term, and a stepped bonus is offered against achieving agreed targets.

This could be the perfect opportunity to ensure your professional career is kicked off to an amazing start!

Hi Sneha, we only have the 5 universities in the job description for this activity but we might roll it out to other universities in the future. When we do we will certainly post it to the website.

    Hello,
I am in the process of applying for Campus Brand Manager at Loughborough and noticed it was possible to chat with one of RB’s people on their blog. I have read the ins and outs of what RB are looking for, but I was wondering if you have any extra ideas that RB look for when recruiting, what was it that made you more suitable for the job then others? I have some idea of myself to stand out from the rest. I would also like to know what the best experience is that you have had while working for RB? Thanks in advance (:

    Hi Will,

Glad to hear you are applying for the Campus Brand Manager role, it’s a great way of getting your name known by RB and proving your talent whilst still at university.

Whilst you’re at university it is important not only to focus on getting good grades, but also prove you have that extra edge, a part time job or volunteering role shows you have experience of a level of responsibility which will help you stand out from the crowd. Also activities such as travelling or sports prove you have broader horizons than just studying in the day and partying in the evening!

When I applied for the graduate scheme I put a lot of thought into why I wanted to get the role and did as much research as I could into the company and its place within the FMCG industry. The more I learnt about RB the more I wanted to work for them, and I think this natural interest and passion was visible throughout my application stages. The assessors find it easy to see who is being genuine and who is presenting a persona that they think the assessors want to see.

I think amongst many other qualities which are assessed, my personality fit well with RB’s core values and this is very important to the assessment process. If you haven’t already, have a look http://www.reckittbenckiser.jobs/graduates for lots of useful info about what RB assessors look for.

Finally my best experience so far, well there’s a few – getting my first prototypes made to my own design, giving presentations to RB directors, helping design claims for a new product to be launched next year, and finding out that I’m going to complete a 6 month placement in S.E. Asia later this year!

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any more questions.

Thank you very much for the help! I also found that the more I read about RB the more I want this placement! It would be a fantastic starting opportunity and all I hear about on the RB web pages is about opportunity, and the great stepping stones they offer to those who want to succeed. I have watched some of the videos of employees talking about their experience at RB and have read some of the blogs on here, and everyone seems to love their job. It seems that there is a very good business culture and it is one I would love to be a part of. I will take the advice on board and I am glad you mentioned that sport as well as grades looks good, because I am extremely sporty, hence I am at Loughborough! I hope I will be seriously considered when my application is read (: Thanks a lot and I wish you all the best! x

  6. Willaiam Blakey says:

Hello, sorry to ask another question, but I needed something to be clarified. Is RB looking for someone to simply promote RB as a company and enlighten others on their success story and products etc, or is RB looking for someone to encourage others to consider RB as a career choice?

    Thanks again.

    Will

  7. Verity says:

Hi Will, the simple answer is both! You’ll raise awareness of the RB brand on your campus, making sure lecturers and the student community get to know who’s behind our famous brands and secondly, you’ll be promoting what an amazing opportunity RB offers if you’re looking for a global career. So you’ll promote RB as a company and as a career option!

    Hello Verity,
Is the telephone interview the last stage of the selection process, or do Bright Futures pass on the best few candidates for RB to decide?
    Kind regards,
    Tom

  15. Verity says:

Hi Tom, Bright Futures will past the details on to RB, then RB will make the final decision on their chosen candidates. The deadline for applications has been extended to 10th Feb to allow the maximum number of applications to be submitted so we can find the very best candidates for the job. I’m not sure how many applications we had as I’m not directly involved with recruitment, but if you’ve got throught the telephone interview stage then it looks promising! Good luck with the rest of the application process, sounds like you are doing well so far!

  16. Tom says:

So the telephone interview is the last stage that I will have to go through, leaving it then to RB to select. Hopefully I’ll do well then! I really can see the importance of this job as i had never heard of RB before a careers fair last year, however I seem to have known about P&G for instance for ages. I’ve not stopped thinking about ways to increase the brand name and boost its popularity! Many thanks, Tom :)

  21. Tom says:

Hello Sab, it was quite a long time ago now and I’ve been applying for placement for the past 6 months so have had many different questions, yet I do remember one question in particular: “Describe yourself as an object”! That certainly threw me but I overcame it :) That was with Bright futures however, I do believe that RB now use a different company so the questions may be different.
However my advice would be to have a list of ideas you wish to implement or expand upon to show you have actually thought about the role already and that you have done some research. Also it might be worth reading through some of the blogs on here to get a feel for the culture and I would make sure you know the four core values. Also have examples of communication/marketing and organisational skills you have :) Any more questions please ask. Which university are you at can I ask?
    Kind regards, Tom

  22. Tom says:

Sorry i missed out your second question. I think i was accepted because there were no other applicants, I joke! No, I wa svery enthusiastic which is important for this role. You have to understand why they are doing the Campus Brand Manager project. I got very involved with university and have a lot of experience with different societies. This meant that I had examples of team working, communication, presentation and organisational skills to draw upon. The fact that most were university examples perhaps helped my application because it shows that not only that they were current examples rather than something I had done in the past but that I know the campus quite well.
    I hope this helps :)
