Change: An opportunity to enrich your career

By

Many companies talk about having a “dynamic environment” or being “fast paced“.
But how true is it?
In 1 year of working at RB, I can honestly say that every day is different and it seems like you’re running faster and faster. This is in terms of tasks, goals, results to deliver but also in terms of structures and careers.

.

I work in HR based in Italy and it gives me a wide point of view on moves, careers advancements, job rotations and the design of new structures and functions.
It’s incredible to see how quickly people can gain responsibilities and cover broader positions, within a very short time. And since I’m working on organization aspects now, I can see how fast teams and structures can be redesigned in order to meet business strategy.
But, more interestingly, I’m impressed by people’s reactiveness and proneness to change.

.

I joined RB in 2008 and will never forget the feeling I had during my recruitment phase: it was exactly the opportunity I was looking for – somewhere dynamic, truly international, full of young and talented people.
And it offered a great place to learn and grow; somewhere which meant being exposed to top management from the moment you started work there.

.

Change is often interpreted as a threat, rather than an opportunity. My experience at RB is has shown me the opposite: young and talented people see change as a chance of challenging the status quo, a condition that helps in gaining activities and responsibilities to enrich their job.
And most of them want to participate actively rather than suffer a new job or a new structure.

.

In my opinion, change often leads to innovation, and maybe this behavior at RB represent the focus on what’s new and valuable. Not just brand or category-wise.
But don’t just take my word for it: RB’s CEO Bart Becht talks about this very issue in the Harvard Business Review article: How I did it: Building a company without borders.
