I work in the Corporate Communications team as an intern and I am tasked with working on corporate brand marketing and brand awareness initiatives. I have only been in the role 5 months and true to RB culture I have been given fantastic ownership and responsibility in my role.
I was recently given the opportunity to attend and present at the RB partnership launch presentation with AIESEC in Hyderabad, India to over 600 delegates. Not bad for an intern 5 months into the role.
AIESEC is the largest student-run organisations who provide a platform for youth leadership development. They are present in over 107 countries with over 50,000 members. As part of my role I manage this partnership and look for opportunities to work with AIESEC to raise awareness of the RB brand.
We recently became global partners and to announce this we attended the ‘AIESEC International Congress 2010‘ to showcase RB, our unique culture and our unique opportunities.
When I was asked to attend I was excited at the opportunity, as I have never presented to an audience this large and it is always great to travel and visit different countries and cultures.
I arrived in India at 4:00am and after some needed sleep, I attended several workshops and presentations taking place. It was a great opportunity to see AIESEC delegates in action and to get a better understanding of the organisation and how they align with our business. At RB one of the messages we promote is ‘what’s important is selecting the people who are right for RB – both culturally and intellectually. This I could see with the AIESEC delegates.
On the day of the presentation, getting ready to go onto the stage, slight pre-nerves, which I always take as a good sign as it means what you are doing is important to you. The presentation got underway it was great fun interacting with the crowd and being a spokesperson for RB. To make the presentation lively we asked questions, if you won you got one of our RB giveaways, which were in high demand. Take a look of the pictures of the event on our facebook photo diary.
Overall, the presentation was very well received and we had positive feedback from the delegates which was great. Following on from the presentation I had a great meeting with several AIESEC national leaders to discuss how we grow and develop the partnership.
In my opinion, AIESEC are a strong organisation with talented individuals who are set to be leaders for the future. I look forward to continue working with them to develop the partnership further.
To sum up, in the presentation I talked about the opportunities at RB and my experience so far is testament to the fact that at RB you get the opportunity to develop further and faster here, than anywhere else. I am looking forward to see what further opportunities are in store with RB.
