I have been working with Reckitt Benckiser for the last 6 years and with its challenging, fast-paced and rewarding environment, RB has given me so many opportunities to experience and learn new skills along the way.
I am about to give you my experience of several of my biggest opportunities at RB.
1st Opportunity: Move To RB Russia
I still remember the day when I was leaving for RB Russia, the weather was amazing with bright sunshine in Poland, I was very excited that’s for sure. I got to the factory and parked exactly where I wanted to, so it was shaping into a great day.
When I got to my office, I noticed every member of my team was in a upbeat mood. I asked for the performance reports – the result? – we hit record production. My boss called me on my mobile and asked to speak with me. I went to his office and found the Regional Director sitting there with him.
They said to me today is a very special day (Cold Sighs – Yes – Anticipating more) and I replied that we hit record production. Both of them started smiling and said, we know that but there’s something more special for you. I was thinking what could be more…what’s that….they told me they have decided to move me to RB Russia with in 7 days to become Manufacturing Manager. It was an amazing opportunity for a young person like me, delighted, I accepted the offer. My team members were very happy for my success but at the same time sad to see me go.
I arrived in Russia at 3:00pm and got to my place started enjoying the new environment and culture. Next day, I went to the factory where everybody welcome me at an induction party. As I progressed, targets and challenges were given to me by my new boss and I started everything from the scratch. In a very short time, I brought the things in place and on target. Everybody was very happy with my performance and my CAN DO attitude.
Beyond any shadow of doubt, I learned a lot from this opportunity and got a lot of confidence in myself to face the pressure and handle challenging situations. This opportunity not only motivated me but also helped me in learning the work environment, people’s nature, culture and attitude of the people in a different country.
2nd Opportunity: Move Back To RB Poland
I realised when my boss gave me the news that I was going move back to RB Poland into a very good role. He offered me a very different position as a Planning Specialist and although the role was new for me I accepted it as a challenge. I remember that day when I informed my parents that I am coming back to Poland in a much better and challenging postion, they were more excited than I was.
When I got to the factory, I saw all my team members waiting for me at the reception. It was really good feeling to see all of them together again. After a short induction party, I got to my new office and met my boss. This time, I got some very new targets and challenges from my boss.
I kept in my mind that I have to work really hard in order to have a very tight control in this new position. I can never forget those sleepless nights and the pressure situations. Undoubtly, my past experience as a Manufacturing Manager helped me a lot in controlling the whole planning process and delivering the target on time. All credit goes to RB for moulding through our unique culture to become more mature and in better shape. I enjoyed my role and had a very successful record on planning the production, dealing with the customer services and fulfilling the consumer requirements by meeting demands.
In a very short time, the people started recognizing me as a very good planner.
Hope you enjoyed hearing about my experiences with RB. Look out for my next blog where I will tell you more about my experiences and global opportunities.
