RB realizes that well structured and significant employee T&D (training & development) programs correlate strongly with long term success.
The RB HR department recently organized a training session for its management trainees from Africa Middle East region in Dubai. It was a four day session and the training program was planned as following:

Time management session:
We learnt about modern tools for managing time efficiently.
Presentation skills training:
We were taught how to improve our skills in structuring and preparing presentations that will meet our audience’s needs. Also we were taught how to improve our ability to deliver an effective presentation.
Market research session:

Akhtar – Sales

Area Sales Manager

Name: Akhtar
Nationality: Pakistani

Where I work for RB: Karachi, Pakistan

Education: I joined RB right after completing my MBA from one of the top varsities in Pakistan IBA (Institute of Business Administration) Karachi.

Career: I joined RB as a management trainee and my experience so far has been amazing. I have spent almost 3 months each in sales, trade marketing and marketing.

Sales:
In the first 3 months I was given exposure to sales. It was a first hand experience. I visited all the sales regions of our country, worked with the sales team, was taught how RB operates in different regions and had the training of an area sales manager.

Trade marketing:
The next two and a half months I was in trade marketing where I learned how to optimize our sales and was given live projects. I worked on the Dettol portfolio and a wholesale channel plan for next year.

Marketing:
After my trade marketing rotation I worked in brands for almost 3 months. I worked on Veet and Strepsils and was given live projects like a fashion show for Veet, and the launch of new packaging of Strepsils etc.

At the end of every rotation the management trainees present to our General Manager and his management committee comprising of directors of all functions.

This not only gives us visibility at senior management level but also keeps us on our toes during the rotations. Our suggestions are taken seriously – the initiatives that I suggested during my presentations have been implemented.

After successful completion of my management trainee programme I have now been promoted to Area Sales Manager for Karachi.
