Idoia – HR
Internal Communications Manager
Name: Idoia
Nationality: Spanish
Where I work for RB: Human Resources – Internal Communications (Barcelona)
Education: I graduated in Audiovisual Communication from Autonomous University of Barcelona and I’m currently finishing a Master in Corporate Communications and affairs (I’m presenting master’s final project next 4th of December!!! I’ll keep you updated)
Career: Before joining RB I had 3 different work experiences as part of my university internship programs. On the first one, I was an intern in TV3 marketing department (TV channel) and there I leaded a research project on new media supports. After that, I stayed 6 months as newsreader in a RAC1 (radio station) and I was in charge of the environmental reports (it’s curious how I always find myself doing things related to environment, you’ll see that in RB I’ve been involved in Carbon20 project). The last experience was the first one related to corporate communications as I worked for 1 year at the corporate communications department of Catalan ombudsman, a government agency.
After that I finished my degree and just before starting my master I was recruited to work for HR department in RB Spain as a trainee on Internal Communications.
It’s only been two years since then but when I look back I’m always amazed of all the work I’ve been able to do at this early stage.
I always explain one experience I had on my first week when I was asked to give support to the recruitment team in a career fair as someone was indisposed. I had never done interviews before (and it was my 3rd day in the company!!) but the situation brought me to take the initiative and I just did it.
Back to internal communication, I started to work on what we call “¡Comunicamos!” which are the internal announcements we post on Biz, our Intranet, and that aim to maintain everyone informed about what’s happening in the company. I also participated from the start in the organisation of employees meetings like Christmas dinner, biannual meetings, departmental meetings, etc.
A part from that, I had the opportunity to lead projects like the launching and development of Save the Children fundraising actions in Spain aligned with current international actions in RB.
On June 2008 I joined the Graduate Program and I had my first big challenge organising a summer event based on the environmental project Carbon20.
Since then, I’ve taken the lead of some other projects like the RB rebranding and refreshed core values in Spain, RB external awareness actions (with press coverage), etc. and I have given my support to the communication and internal promotion of other HR, Sales and Marketing programs or activities.
In the future I would like to continue taking responsibilities and improving what internal and external communication is like in RB.
