Students: Here is your chance to Do Something BIG

Have you ever really wanted to make a difference, to do something that matters, to do something BIG?

German students have a  fantastic opportunity to do just that, by taking part in an amazing competition which challenges entrants to create a simple yet innovative idea to save children's lives in Angola, one of the poorest places in the world.

The competition is being run by RB Germany together with Save the Children. Student groups are invited to plan the whole project and manage it like a real business case.
It needs to be realistic and efficient. Entrants also need to show strong problem-solving skills, sharp analytical skills and persuasiveness.
Projects will be rated by KPIs (key performance indicators) such as how well the project fits the region, how well social networks are used to raise awareness, how efficient the money would be used and, of course , the quality of the idea.

Xenia – Marketing

Marketing Trainee

Name: Xenia
Nationality :
German
Where I work for RB:
Germany – Marketing (although I am currently on secondment in France!)

Education: I graduated from Mannheim University in Germany specializing in Marketing and Production Management. During my studies I spent 8 months at the French Canadian Université Laval in Québec.

Career: My career at RB started in 2007 as an intern in the Marketing Team working on Vanish. Since then, I am now already working in my third Segment out of the six RB Segments. Working in marketing at RB meant taking responsibility for my projects from day one. I also learned that Marketing is really about managing your own brand and everything that surrounds it – from budget plans and forecast planning to the touch up of the latest promotional pack or TV spot  – it’s all yours to manage and all your responsibility. I wanted to take that challenge and applied for the graduate program at RB Germany.

In 2008 I joined RB as a Management Trainee in the Marketing department working in the OTC team (over the counter medicine). For me it was a great opportunity to be working with medical products which is completely different to working with FMCGs (fast moving consumer goods). OTC marketing is a lot more in depth work on the products and regulatory processes but this makes it interesting since the projects vary according to the target group, not only focusing on the end consumer but also on the healthcare professionals who sell or recommend our products .

For the last 6 months of my trainee program I am now working in France. Here I am working as assistant brand manager on the brands Airwick, and Baranne, a small but leading shoe polish brand in France. Surprisingly, working in France is not so much different from Germany – apart from the language of course. It is really the RB culture that influences the daily business.
