Michael – Supply

Supply

Name: Michael

Nationality: French & Belgian

Where I work for RB: Supply – Brazil (São Paulo)

Education: I graduated from Ecole Centrale de Lille (France) with a Master of Sciences in General Engineering in mid-2008 and finished my Master of Research in Mechanics in the end of the same year.

These two diplomas have given me a wide knowledge in various technical fields but also in management and business. As my university welcomes every year a lot of foreigners, it is also there that I have really begun to work in an international environment and discovered how great this is. French, Spanish, Brazilian, Polish, Chinese… every one is eager to get to know other cultures and to enter in active life.

Career: I tried to make the best of teenage-college years to get to know different areas and to identify my interests. As summer jobs, I worked in areas as different as electronics, nuclear, wine cellar, and medical industry. But that was just not enough. Then, during my college year, I realized a first 2-year project in the aeronautical industry.

In 2007, I decided to discover this part of the world everybody was talking about and went to Qatar for a 3 months internship in civil construction in Besix, a Belgian company well known in Middle East. I worked in the quality department of a 200m high skyscraper. 1000 workers and more than 15 nationalities, tell me about multicultural environment!

In 2008, the medias were beginning to talk about Brazilian pre-salt offshore oil fields. These new fields are still foreseen to make Brazil one of the major oil producers in the next years. I wanted to be part of it and find the opportunity within a 2 year contract in Belo Horizonte/Brazil with Vallourec, French company, leader in seamless steel tubes production. I worked on R&D and production projects for Petrobras and discovered the day-to-day routine of a huge 6000 people plant. I also learnt my third fluent language: Portuguese.

In the beginning of 2010, I decided to move to São Paulo, the economic capital of Brazil and to seek an opportunity there. My objectives were to enter a multinational company, with international career possibilities, lots of challenges and preferably within the consumer goods industry. But I also wanted to begin a long-term career in an attractive group. Therefore, Reckitt Benckiser turned to be an obvious choice. I entered the graduate program competitive selection process and became part of the team in the beginning of September 2010.

How is it? I am sure you are pretty curious to know all about it and I will be posting soon to fulfill you expectations. One tip though: I love it!
