From Management Trainee to Area Sales Manager

It’s been a long wait this year to get new roles following on from the management trainee programme! We (the management trainees) have been through all the stints and some of us have even started to get new roles. Word is out in the grapevine that the other trainees will be given their postings soon and I might be one of them ;)

We will be posted as Area Sales Managers (ASMs) in different parts of India. You are given your targets, shortly before starting and your are tasked with developing business in that territory for the next two years. After which begins the most fascinating part of your career at RB. You learn to handle the business and the nuances of sales. The entire “process of sales” - a fantastic opportunity!

It’s a huge responsibility something that most of us have never experienced before and hence becomes (in my view) a very grooming phase of our personal and professional lives!

Something that I am really looking forward too !!

Vikas – Sales

Name: Vikas
Nationality: Indian
Where I work for RB: India – Sales & Marketing
Education: I completed my Engineering in computer science and went on to do my MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM Lucknow).
Career: Post my summer internship at RB (and having earned a PPO for my good work) I joined RB on the 1st of June 2010 as a Management Trainee. That makes me a relative newbie in the organisation. In my nine months with the organisation, I have patrolled the length and breadth of Andhra Pradesh (a state in the southern part of India) through the various levels in the sales channel. I also got to design the incentive structures for the wholesale partners of India (who contribute to 25% of RB business). I now have one more stint in Key Accounts (Modern Trade) before I am crowned as an Area Sales Manager who gets to handle the sales of RB products in a territory/state.

Looking forward to the exciting times at RB!
